Method to the madness

The Method Air: It's the grab to-end-all snowboard grabs, and the most classic and style-infused trick in the sport. Since no two riders "method" alike, they become quite a personal maneuver and a style barometer of sorts. That being said there are two main types of method grabs:

Northwest: Your front hand grabs your heel edge behind your leading leg in between the bindings. There's traditionally more of a body turn to show off that flat base, than a tweak. For the full experience, the Northwest Method must be done sans gloves รก la Jamie Lynn.

Euro: Your front hand grabs your heel edge just in front of your leading leg with as much tweak as possible thrown into it; also known as the "grasser" or "nethod." Think Terje Haakonsen and go for full extension horizontally.

Back in the good ol' days, some riders were accused of making a career of doing Methods. Is this supposed to be an insult? It sounds like a hell of a living to me... These days it's perfectly acceptable to move to Whistler, BC, and do nothing with your life except sweet, sweet Methods until you're 40 years old. But you can't do jack shit without a snowboard so get down to EB and pick up a sweet new ride for short money. All boards sold at EB include one free method! (methods must redeemed by 05/01/09). -SPK

So what the hell am I supposed to do now that I'm over 40? Just so you "kids" know the method is still a trick your grandpa can do...we just throw a hip out..thus giving us extra tweak.
