Smack in the face

Bryan B brought it to me attention that the town of North Smithfield decided to just tear down the skate park with out telling anyone, they cited vandalism as the reason. As we all know skaters and bikers rarely vandalize their own parks its usually some miscreant thats just hanging around with nothing better to do. What bothers me is that public property is vandalized all the time basketball courts, school walls , tennis courts, trains, and buses its an unfortunate part of life, but we don't tear these things down! We fix them and do our best to address the problem. I know there is a lot of support for a skatepark in North Smithfield, our own Bryan B is from the town and helped raise money for the park to be built. We should see this as an opportunity to turn something negative into a positive. The town screwed up, lets call them on it and use this as leverage to try and build a nice new skatepark. Everyone interested in seeing this turned around should write an APPROPRIATE e-mail to the town admin saying how this act is unacceptable. Her name is Paulette D. Hamilton, phamilton@nsmithfieldri.org Thanks and remember the park won't just rebuilt its self every email and effort makes a difference. -SPK

SAME thing happened to me and the local skatepark in plainville MASS, its a little park with a few Q-pipes, spine, slant, and a nice box with a flat rail on it.There reason was they THOUGHT the 5 year old skatepark was too dangerous due to the damage on the ramps... most of its make of metal and the wood that they use for some is the nice kind that comes from woodward. Im sure instead of closing a basketball court theyd have no problem fixing it up
